How you can use this in your academics

Imagine being able to listen to or view lessons on demand? ipod iconPodcasts can deliver educational content for listening or viewing on your computer and iPod, giving students the ability to learn on the go.

A podcast is audio or visual content that is automatically delivered over a network via free subscription. Once subscribed to, podcasts can be regularly distributed over the Internet or within your school’s network and accessed with an iPod, laptop, or desktop computer (both Macs and PCs).

 

 

Frequently Asked podcasting questions.

  • How does a podcast differ from streaming audio?
Because streaming audio files are listened to as they are being fed to your computer, you need a live internet connection. Podcasts differ in that they are downloaded to your computer and listened to later offline or transferred to a digital audio player (ipod).
  • What makes a podcast different than a radio program?
For the most part, radio programs are the products of media conglomerates. Due to the relative ease with which podcast's can be created and distributed, podcast's can be made by anyone. But like any form of democratized publication, this is a plus and a minus:  critical experience will weigh in on both the production and consumption sides of the equation.
  • How can I listen to podcast's?
Podcast's can be heard using a pc or mac computer, the can be listen to through iTunes music player or iPod.

  • Do I need an iPod?

    No. Podcasting borrows its name from the popular Apple digital audio player, but you can subscribe and listen to podcast's without any such device. iTunes music player comes with access to the iTunes music store which has thousands of free podcast's which are broken into categories. In the Education category you can listen to or subscribe to a variety of instructional lessons on topics ranging from foreign languages to web design.
