First you will need a microphone and audio recording software. Microphones run from $20 to $500 dollars, so choose one to fit your needs. In the Media Center we have the Logitech USB Desktop Mic and it suite's our needs nicely. Also all Apple computers have a built in mic and you can record audio using garageband, Which is apart of the iLife software that is preinstalled on the machine. The newer Mac Pro computers also come with a built-in web cam.

Logitech QuickCam Pro 5000 Web Camera
Also available at Best Buy or any electronics store, run around $80.

Free audio tools for recording your podcast

Audacity is free, software for recording and editing audio. It is available for Mac OS X, Microsoft Windows.

WavePad

WavePad is a sound editor for Windows that lets you make and edit voice and other audio recordings. You can cut, copy, and paste parts of recordings and, if required, add effects such as echo, amplification, and noise reduction.
